Student Email

A message to students-Read this first:

  1. STUDENTS PLEASE BE AWARE—SOMETIMES SCHOOL EMAILS ARE BLOCKED. If your email ends with something that looks like this: Your name@your school.k12.your state initials.us, then I cannot respond.
  2. SCHOOLS DO THIS FOR YOUR PROTECTION. THE SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO SEND A REPLY. SO EVEN THOUGH I TRY, I CANNOT SEND A REPLY TO YOUR EMAIL. I’M REALLY SORRY.
  3. I read every single one, however, and many deserve a reply, but answers will not go through the security system of your school. Thank you SO much for understanding!
  4. I want you to know I read every single email that you send to me. I appreciate all your wonderful comments about the books. Some of your letters make me smile, and some make me weep for your pain. It is my honor and pleasure to read your emails, and I thank you for taking the time to write me.
  5. PLEASE NOTE: Although I would love to do so, I cannot answer every email. However, I do try to answer as many as I can. If you don't get a response, I don't want you to think I don't care--sometimes the system just won't let me get through to you. Also--I can not answer individual emails written by a class. I've asked your teachers not send these--my computer will explode! :-)
  6. IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION FOR A BOOK REPORT OR AUTHOR PROJECT, PLEASE GO TO HOMEWORK HELPER. Everything you need for your project should be there. Sorry, but I am unable to answer emails about projects.
  7. Students also need to understand that I cannot come to visit your school unless I am asked by a teacher or librarian or principal. It takes several months (and a bit of money as well) to arrange a school visit. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it has to be arranged by an adult. If you feel very strongly about it, talk to your teachers and have them to contact me. Thanks for caring enough to ask.

  8. Sincerely,
    Sharon M. Draper
